Located in a forested area (broad-dark coniferous and pine-birch forests), almost on the border with the forest-steppe zone Urals, a nature reserve (with NP Taganay, projected natural park Turgojak and Ilmensky reserve) plays an essential function of ecological corridor between the forest-steppe zones of eastern and western foothills Southern Urals. This powerful latitudinal corridor linking the eastern and western slopes of the southern Ural Mountains, is crucial, ensuring exchange of gene pools of different biogeographic regions of the biota. Other similar corridor unavailable throughout the Ural mountain country. |
